Newton Parish Council have placed a war memorial in the centre of the village near the notice board to remember fallen soldiers of the village. There is to be a dedication and service to be held on Sunday 11th November at 1pm, where family members of the 7 named soldiers have been invited. Wreaths are to be placed by the Parish Council and anyone else wishing to lay a wreath would be welcomed to do so.
Following on from the dedication there will be refreshments served in the village hall before the Slaidburn Players Production ‘The day the guns all went quiet’, starts at 2.30pm. Please see details below and if you are interested in coming to the production please contact Aldwyth
THE DAY THE GUNS ALL WENT QUIET

Slaidburn Players and Friends will be performing a play entitled ‘The Day the Guns All Went Quiet’ to commemorate the end of WW1. The performances will take place in Newton Vilage Hall on Saturday 10th November at 7.30pm and Sunday 11th November at 2.30pm following on from the dedication and service at the new war memorial in Newton Village.
There will be a licensed bar, raffle and nibbles.
Tickets cost £7 for adults and £3.50 for children

QUIZ NIGHT

Newton Village Hall will be hosting a quiz night on Thursday 15th November commencing 8pm.
Teams are to be made up to 6 people. There will be a licensed bar and nibbles.

John Bowdler (Blackpool Tower Organist) will be providing the music for a dance to be held at Newton Village Hall on Friday 26th October commencing 7.45pm.
Tickets cost £10 per person and will include a plated supper, licensed bar and raffle.
