What a lovely weekend we’ve had
On Friday evening Newton In Bowland Village Hall held their social evening with pre coronation cocktails kindly prepared by Callum Baines and oh yes they were popular, thank you Callum for giving your time and expertise I am sure you will be back in the future, thats if we haven’t scared you off.
On Monday we held our coronation duck race, thankfully the heavy rain in the morning cleared away before the race began. Ducks went into the river but decided, thanks to the wind, to stop, giving our men a bit of a task getting them down the river but after 45 minutes they finally arrived at the finishing line. Only Newton could have ducks flowing the wrong way up the river!!
Well done to Matilda and Madeline Oyston for winning the first prize and our very own committee member Mike Fairbairn for claiming last place and the booby prize.
Back at the hall there was a free bar-b-que and refreshments, John Bennett unveiled the new clock donated by the parish council, and prizes were given out for the duck race and the competition. See links below for all the winners
Thanks go to Bill and Susan Pinder for allowing us to use their field, to everyone who donated prizes and cakes, to those selling and buying duck tickets and to everyone that supported us in any way to make this a success, its a real community effort to bring everything together so thanks to everyone that contributed in any way.
