Newton in Bowland Parish Council – Ribble Valley
A Vacancy for the Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer role has arisen.
Newton in Bowland Parish Council seeks a motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO).
The post involves attendance at scheduled Parish Council meetings, plus additional meetings that may arise from time to time.
Expenses including a payment of £100 per scheduled parish meeting are paid.
The candidate must be IT literate and have access to their own computer equipment. Must be able to store files securely at their home address and be available to attend Council meetings 4 times per annum, usually within the Parish at 7:30pm, plus any additional meetings that may arise from time to time. The Council is flexible and, should this be unachievable, an alternative evening could be adopted subject to availability of the Village Hall or other venue.
Duties will include acting as advisor to the Council, minute taking, and compilation of correspondence, filing, administration of the Council parts of the Parish Website, liaising with LCC and RVBC and financial accounting as the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) for the Council.
Prior relevant experience is an advantage but not essential. Training from the exiting Clerk will be provided and the council will consider funding a CiLCA qualification. https://www.slcc.co.uk/qualifications/
Local knowledge is an advantage as the parish is a small community and the majority of work is on local issues.
Starting date [ASAP] to allow for briefing, handover and transport of materials from the current acting Parish Clerk
The application form, job specification and person specification are available from:
Newton in Bowland Parish Council,

Newton Village Hall will be celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The plan was to host a number of events but due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have had to scale things back.
So that it doesn’t go unnoticed there will be a social day on Sunday 19th September, starting with bacon butties in the morning, a display of memorabilia, the duck race at 1pm and childrens competitions along with refreshments and of course the bar will be open. Take a look at the childrens competition details and if you are interested please join in. Aldwyth will be in the village hall tomorrow night and each Monday between 7-7.30pm, so if you would like any tickets please call in and see her, alternatively you can message me and I will sort it for you.

Ribble Valley Borough Council have the plans for the HARP project on the planning application website.
Can I please urge you to look at these, if passed they will have a huge impact on our lives for many years to come.
The parish Council are planning to hold an open meeting to discuss all aspects of the application before a formal response is made and I will let you know when a date has been arranged, the first thing is to try and take in the plans and believe me there is a lot of it to take on board, which in itself shows the size of the project.
The plans can be viewed by visiting Planning Application – Ribble Valley Borough Council

The Haweswater Aqueduct supplies fresh drinking water to people in Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester. To ensure that we can secure the quality and resilience of these water supplies, vital work is required to replace six sections of the pipeline amounting to one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the North of England.
We have been busy consulting with local authorities, councillors, communities and their representatives about our plans as part of our pre-application consultation, including physical exhibitions and an online virtual exhibition, engaging with over 12,500 people and receiving over 2000 feedback responses. We would like to say a big thank to everyone who took part!
Taking into consideration the feedback we have received as much as possible, we have now developed our latest proposed plans for the Bowland and Marl Hill sections which you can view by visiting the updated section of our virtual exhibition at www.harpconsultation.co.uk.
We are also running a live webinar on Thursday 3 June at 6pm, where members of our team will be talking through our latest plans and the virtual exhibition updates. If you would like to join this event you can register by visiting the virtual exhibition home page and following the online instructions.
We will be submitting planning applications for these latest plans to Ribble Valley Borough Council and Lancaster City Council later in June 2021.
Best wishes,
HARP Stakeholder Relations
