The over 60s Christmas party is due to be held at Newton Village Hall on Saturday 14th December commencing 12pm. This event is open to all residents aged 60 and above and their partners who live in the parishes of Dunsop Bridge, Newton and Slaidburn.
There will be a meal to start with followed by entertainment provided by Paul Dillon, who came last year and has been asked back by popular demand.
Each village will send out invitations to everyone believed to be eligible however if you have not received an invitation and you would like to come along please contact your village representative who are listed below. Please let us know if you have qualified for a place since last year and make sure that we are aware if you have any dietary requirements.

BT TELEPHONE BOXES

The Parish Council have received a letter from Ribble Valley Borough Council advising us of the possible removal of telephone boxes situated within the Ribble Valley.
The telephone box situated within the centre of Newton Village is one of the boxes marked for removal, according to records it has only been used 9 times within a 12 month period and the council has a consultation period on this removal process until 13th November 2019
Please contact Newton Parish Council if you have any comments you would like to make by 8th November. You can also comment on this consultation or make your views known to the Local Planning Authority, please email regeneration@ribblevalley.gov.uk for the attention of Amy Holden, Economic and Community Development Officer, with your comments by Wednesday, 13November 2019.

It has been announced that the Health Centre has a new service provider. NHS East Lancashire CCG has approved a bid from Bowland Health Ltd whose medical director, Dr Amy Bonner, has been acting as a locum at the surgery.

Nigel Evans MP is due to visit the Hodder Valley on Saturday 31st August to meet residents. If anyone wishes to meet him the times and places are listed below. Please go and let him know if you have any issues, whether it be on the possible closure of the health centre or anything else

145 people attended a meeting on Wednesday 21st August to discuss the prospects for Slaidburn Health Centre with a clear message for NHS East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England. If you can’t or won’t #saveslaidburn surgery, will.
The Patients Participation Group are doing whatever they can to stop this happening and are asking as many people as possible to write to various people/organisations to show their feelings.
Tens of thousands of pounds was pledged on the night. With a charitable trust to be set up ASAP.
