CHRISTMAS DANCE

Newton village Hall will be hosting a Christmas Dance on Friday 7th December commencing 7.45pm with music being provided by John Bowdler, organist at the Blackpool Tower.

Tickets cost £10 and will include supper. There will be a raffle and the licensed bar will be open

WAR MEMORIAL

There was a good turnout for the dedication service at the war memorial situated in the centre of the village at 1pm on Sunday 11th November.

The service was taken by Rev Canon Ian Greenhalgh and Clare Oldfield.

Wreaths were laid and refreshments followed the service in the village hall

WINE TASTING

Majestic Wine from Clitheroe will be hosting a wine tasting evening on Saturday 1st December in Newton Village Hall

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

Newton Parish Council have placed a war memorial in the centre of the village near the notice board to remember fallen soldiers of the village. There is to be a dedication and service to be held on Sunday 11th November at 1pm, where family members of the 7 named soldiers have  been invited. Wreaths are to be placed by the Parish Council and anyone else wishing to lay a wreath would be welcomed to do so.

Following on from the dedication there will be refreshments served in the village hall before the Slaidburn Players Production ‘The day the guns all went quiet’, starts at 2.30pm. Please see details below and if you are interested in coming to the production please contact Aldwyth

THE DAY THE GUNS ALL WENT QUIET

Slaidburn Players and Friends will be performing a play entitled ‘The Day the Guns All Went Quiet’ to commemorate the end of WW1. The performances will take place in Newton Vilage Hall on Saturday 10th November at 7.30pm and Sunday 11th November at 2.30pm following on from the dedication and service at the new war memorial in Newton Village.

There will be a licensed bar, raffle and nibbles.
