This years event was held on 4th February in the village hall and arranged by members of Newton Village Hall committee and had 130 people present.
The evening started with singer Simon Dee performing a mixture of old and modern songs with comedian Lee Lard, (a Peter Kay Tribute Act), taking over proceedings after the hot supper had been served. Simon then performed for a second time with dancing for those attending.
As usual for this event the committee had decided to donate the proceeds of the evenings raffle to a local charity and this year had chosen Field Nurse. Neville Pearson had pleasure in handing over a cheque for £740 to Christine Parkinson for this cause.
Field Nurse is a local charity which enables nurse to go to the local auction marts in Clitheroe and Gisburn to provide health advice to local farmers and rural residents. Please go to their website for further details on the charity. www.fieldnurse.org.uk
Thanks go to everyone involved in organising this event, whether it be from setting up the hall, providing the supper, baking the cakes, donating raffle prizes or indeed just attending on the night.
